Four of Barnsley's professional boxers have dates pencilled in for the sport's return in September.

The sport generally has a bit of an off-season in August before returning in September and this year is the same for many of the town's professionals.

Three of them will be in action at the Metrodome on Friday September 12.

They include Brampton's unbeaten Dempsey Wale who will take on Poland's Jakub Laskowski in an eight-rounder on that bill.

Joining him on it is stablemate Jaymyleigh Pettinger, also from Brampton.

She got off to a winning start as a professional earlier this year and is scheduled to box six two minute rounds against an opponent yet to be confirmed.

Wombwell's Jake Jon Cleary will complete the trio of fighters on that show.

The 2-0 prospect is due to fight Birmingham's Lewis Varley.

Cory Sagar will have to wait a little longer to box again as his next fight date is Saturday September 20 at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.

Sagar, from Worsbrough, has impressed on two previous shows at the same venue and like Cleary is 2-0.

That leaves only British and European champion Callum Simpson and Ben Davies as the active professionals from the town without fight dates currently.
