IT’S always a special feeling when the football season returns to Oakwell – and with three big home games in the space of a week, we’re wasting no time getting going.
There’s a real sense of momentum around the club at the moment.
That was clear from the support we received at Plymouth last weekend – over 800 Reds fans made the long trip south, backing the team from start to finish.
It’s a powerful reminder of what this club means to so many people.
Here at Oakwell, it’s been a busy summer – both on and off the pitch.
Renovation work is well underway in the East Stand’s corporate areas, part of our commitment to raising standards across the board.
The pitch, too, is in outstanding condition thanks to the hard work of our head groundsman Dave Anderson and his team.
Their efforts over the summer have given us one of the best playing surfaces in the division, and they deserve real credit.
On the football side, we’ve made significant changes, starting with the return of Conor Hourihane as head coach.
Conor’s appointment brings a fresh energy and familiarity with what it means to play for Barnsley.
Alongside him, we’ve brought in a new coaching team and have already seen positive signs in the way the squad is shaping up.
We’ve also added some exciting new players to the group, and I want to thank sporting director Mladen Sormaz and our recruitment department for the work they’ve done – and continue to do – in building a competitive side for the season ahead.
None of this would be possible without the backing of our supporters.
Thank you to everyone who has purchased a season ticket for 2025/26.
Your commitment underpins everything we’re trying to achieve.
For those still undecided, there’s still time to get involved – and we’d love to have you with us.
We’ve also listened carefully to feedback from fans. As a result, we’ve frozen food and drink prices this season, and for Saturday’s match against Burton, we’ll be running a special beer offer as a small thank you for your continued support.
A word of thanks must also go to our commercial sponsors and partners for this season.
Their contributions play a vital role in the club’s stability and growth.
Saturday marks the start of a crucial stretch at Oakwell, and we hope as many of you as possible will join us in getting behind the lads.
Let’s make Oakwell a difficult place for teams to visit – starting this weekend.
See you there.
