Barnsley will look to make it three wins from three games this season when they host Fleetwood Town tomorrow evening.

The 7.45pm kick-off in the EFL Cup follows league victories over Plymouth Argyle and Burton Albion.

Fleetwood have won their first two games of the League Two season, 2-0 at Barnet then 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers.

The two clubs have met 12 times, since 2014, with Barnsley winning seven and losing two. The last eight meetings have brought seven Reds wins and a 2-2 home draw in Fleetwood’s most recent visit to Oakwell in 2023.

Reds head coach Conor Hourihane said: “Fleetwood will be coming here with confidence. They might make some changes like us.

“They are a competitive team who started well but we’ll be ready for the challenge.”

Fleetwood have ex-Red James Norwood and his fellow experienced striker Ched Evans.

Hourihane said: “It could be a brilliant test for our defence. It was a test for our lads against Burton, the way they played direct – particularly in the first half, then we dealt with it a lot better in the second. We need to do the basics to give the forward players a chance to go and win it.
