The last pint will be pulled at the Wilthorpe pub this weekend.
Tenants Michael and Tina Farnsworth, both 43, are leaving the boozer which will be turned into a Tesco Express supermarket.Michael's parents Pete, 66, and Sue, who died eight years ago, used to run the Wilthorpe which has been a pub since the 1920s.
Michael is sad to be leaving but felt there was no option.
"My mum and dad had it from 1988 to 2002. I got married and had my day do in the pub in 1989.
"We took over in September 2010 because it looked like it would close and we didn't want that. I only live a hundred yards down the road. My father-in-law has been going in since 1968. It's a big shock to everybody.
"The Wilthorpe is just a friendly pub where everybody gets on."
He is worried the community will be left without a proper local.
"I don't know what they're going to do when it's gone. It's scary.
"It's going to mean a lot of people stopping in, but what have you to look forward to if you're stopping in and not seeing your mates?"
