Eleven Barnsley College students have impressed at the regional heat of the UK's largest construction skills contest.
Jason Whitehead, 19, came first in the senior bricklaying category of the Skillbuild competition.
Jason, who works for Barratt Developments, said: "I’m really proud to have won at SkillBuild as it shows that I am one of the best trainee tradespeople in Yorkshire and the Humber, which is a huge achievement.
"The competition was really tough but it was a great chance for me to show some of the skills that I use every day and to have these recognised."
Other winners from Barnsley College include Will Proud (first place, junior bricklaying); Wayne Davis (first place, senior plastering); Jordan Wasden (second place, senior plastering); Mark Speight (third place, senior plastering); Frank Pitts (second place, senior wall and flooring); Alison Boast (third place, senior wall and flooring); Alex Palmer, (second place, senior carpentry); Daniel Wright, (fourth place, senior carpentry); Josh Marlow (fourth place, senior joinery); Alex Squires (fourth place, senior carpentry).
Successful competitors will compete in the three day Skillbuild UK final at Preston College in September.
