GREEN-fingered residents in Royston have been rolling up their sleeves to clean up the area.
As part of the latest Green Spaces volunteer sessions in Royston, councillors Caroline Makinson and Pauline McCarthy joined members of the neighbourhood services team and local volunteers.
Armed with specialist trimmers, rakes, and a shared sense of purpose, the group tackled two key sites - Pocket Park on Church Street and the old Youth Club site on Midland Road.
The team cleared overgrown hedges, swept paths, and planted fresh blooms, transforming neglected corners into welcoming spaces for residents of all ages.
Coun Makinson said: “It was fantastic to be out with our Royston Green Spaces volunteers again.
“These monthly sessions are about more than tidying up - they’re about pride, connection, and making sure our green spaces reflect the strength of our community.
“Huge thanks to everyone who joined us, especially Barnsley Council’s neighbourhood services team for their brilliant support.”
