A LOCAL man is set to attempt a never-before-seen feat in aid of mental health.
Daniel Staves, 37, from Royston, is determined to push himself to the limits to fundraise for mental health charities.
He will attempt to run the Yorkshire Three Peaks four times on October 4, over the narrow window of 36 hours.
Daniel’s inspiration for fundraising for mental health came after the tragic loss of his mother by suicide.
He told the Chronicle: “After my mum’s suicide, I made an attempt on my own life and had a really bad battle with my mental health.
“Since getting myself back on track, a guy in my local village committed suicide and that’s what started me off fundraising.”
He will be joined by Lee Hatfield and Ashley Greenwood, who are also prolific fundraisers.
The trio met through Ryan Hinchcliffe’s fundraising group ‘Run For Nan’, quickly becoming friends and completing impressive feats for charity together.
Perhaps most notably, they ran the Barnsley 10k with a hilarious twist - completing the run clad in racy nurse outfits. Previously, they have completed the challenging Yorkshire Dales-based trail three times in under 25 hours, but are determined to push themselves further, for a good cause.
With a military background and a vocation for personal training, Daniel has a long-standing passion for health and fitness.
He has taken on the Goggins Challenge, which requires participants to run four miles every four hours for 48 hours.
In the last two years, Daniel has completed 21 ultra marathons and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
He added: “I just want to do as much fundraising for mental health charities as possible.”
