THE organisers of the popular Barnsley Live festival have been nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award.
The nomination for one of the town’s biggest and most-anticipated events says: “The Barnsley Live organisers are a small, dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly all year-round to deliver the town’s most loved and highest attending event of the event.
“With no financial reward and limited resources, they pour their time, energy and hearts into creating a completely free-to-attend, multi-venue live music festival that celebrates local talent and brings people together from all walks of life.
“Having just completed their eighth year running, they fully deserve to be nominated and to win - I truly feel as a town we need to show our appreciation to such an incredible team for what they have done for our town over the past eight years.
“What sets Barnsley Live apart is not just the scale of the event, which spans over 20 venues and showcases hundreds of acts, but the spirit behind it. It’s organised entirely by volunteers who take on everything from artist co-ordination and logistics to fundraising and promotion all with the goal of making Barnsley a more vibrant, creative and connected town.
“In addition to providing a platform for local musicians, the festival supports a different charity each year, raising awareness and vital funds for causes that matter to the Barnsley community.
“Despite facing challenges such as rising costs, funding pressures, and the sheer complexity of managing such a large event, the team continues to deliver an experience that thousands of people enjoy all while maintaining a strong focus on community spirit.
“The Barnsley Live organisers embody what it means to be Proud of Barnsley they showcase our talent, support our people and remind us all what can be achieved when passion and community come together.”
