GABRIEL Dys is hoping to become a professional boxer after success at amateur level.

The 16-year-old from Wombwell won his latest fight against Zulkif Khan from Bradford’s Solid Impact gym.

He is due to represent England at the ICO World Championships in Swansea next month.

Gabriel said: “I love being in the ring, showing what I’m made of and setting an example to younger children to show just how courageous teenage boys can be.

“Boxing has taught me so much and has improved my fitness and my confidence. I’m keen to join the professional ranks but need sponsorship to help me get there.

“Meanwhile I want to thank my parents, my coaches and particularly my barber and my nutritionist for helping me get this far.”

Coach Paul Paszek of Fight Team Boxing in Wombwell said: “Gab is a fantastic role model and, as a junior coach, he regularly runs our Spartan class for children aged five to nine who all look up to him. We’re proud of the rapid progress this polite, well-mannered boy has made since he joined us three years ago.”
