A FORMER history teacher is hoping to receive 100 birthday cards to celebrate becoming a centenarian later this month - and she’s certainly going in the right direction.
Molly Sidebank, 99, is currently a resident at Thornhill House Care Home in Darfield.
She’s due to celebrate her 100th birthday on October 18 and is hoping to receive 100 birthday cards to mark the occasion.
The home are asking locals to send a card to Molly and they can do so via the address Thornhill House Care Home, Church Street, Darfield, Barnsley, S73 9LG.
A spokesperson for the home said: “Molly’s birthday wish is simple but heartwarming - she’d love to receive 100 birthday cards to mark her incredible milestone.
“The cards have already been flooding in, but Molly isn’t convinced she’ll reach her goal - so we’d love to surprise her and prove her wrong.
“Along with her cards, she would be over the moon to receive some sweet treats to enjoy on her big day.
:It’s no surprise that the community is already rallying round to celebrate one of Barnsley’s beloved former history teachers.”
