COUNCILLORS in Kingstone have thanked South Yorkshire Police for upping their patrols on streets put forward by residents.
Couns Steve Bullcock, Philip Wright and Kath Mitchell praised the quick actions of on-the-beat officers, who have been clamping down on antisocial behaviour.
A joint statement from the councillors said: “We would like to pass on our collective gratitude and thanks to Inspector Rebecca Richardson and South Yorkshire Police for listening to us.
“The message we passed on to them, on behalf of concerned residents, was not ignored or brushed under the carpet.
“Residents felt reassured last week that the police turned up unannounced and they proudly plodded the streets of Kingstone, demonstrating that they have got our backs.
“It was good to see the police horses on the streets of Kingstone, too - this action will hopefully send a message to those that see our streets and backings as easy pickings where they can do whatever they want is not going to happen.
“All levels of antisocial behaviour will be dealt with and not ignored - let’s hope this excellent initiative becomes a regular occurrence.
“This is exactly what the public want: more visible policing on our streets.”
