A THURNSCOE man embarked on a mammoth fundraiser in a bid to raise money for his colleague who has been diagnosed with cancer - and he’s already smashed his target.

Wayne Blythe has always been into his fitness having being in the army, but his latest fundraiser is certainly pushing boundaries.

After hearing that one of his colleagues had been diagnosed with cancer, he decided he wanted to help.

He’s in the process of running 50 kilometres in ten days and his fundraiser will culminate today with an eight-hour spinning session at Dearneside Leisure Centre.

He originally wanted to raise £500 but he’s almost tripled the target before he’s even finished.

Wayne told the Chronicle: “I just wanted to do something to try and help him because it’s coming up to Christmas.

“My legs are aching, but he’s in a lot worse situation than me.

“I set a total of £500, which I thought would be brilliant but I’ve absolutely smashed that.
