A PENSIONER has decided charity should begin with the local community, and is placing boxes of free goodies at the bottom of her drive for passers-by to take.
Brenda Gill, 70, puts a treasure trove of computer games, shoes, old records and even bikes out every few weeks with a sign reading: “Free, please take.”
People can walk away with whatever they want.
Brenda, of Market Place, Elsecar, came up with the idea while on holiday in Mablethorpe where family-run hotels put boxes of goods on their doorstep to sell.
She regularly hears children and bargain hunters rummaging through the box which can include books, sewing machines, picture frames and old records by the likes of Elvis and Johnny Cash.
