A senior care worker has retired from a Mapplewell home after 20 years’ service.
Brenda Gardner, 65, of Spark Lane, finished her last shift at Chapel View Care Home when she waved goodbye to colleagues and residents after two decades at the nursing and residential care home.
She started out at Chapel View as a care assistant and worked her way through the ranks to become a senior care assistant. “I turned 65 the day after I retired and to be honest my body was telling me I had had enough and it was time to go,” she joked.
“I have no idea what I am going to do with myself now. I suppose I will spend a bit more time relaxing and spending time with my family and friends. I’ve made a lot of good friends and have great memories.”Staff held a party at the care home for Brenda when she was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a gift voucher from colleagues and residents.
