A MONK Bretton youngster has helped raise more than £1,500 for Barnsley Hospice - and she’s already thinking of ways she can help raise more.

Seven-year-old Myla Jobling was shortlisted for a Young Champions award this year after raising a total of £250 for the hospice and although she didn’t win, she was determined to raise even more money.

And last week she handed over a cheque for £1,540 to the hospice after selling personalised bracelets at a friend’s function.

Her mum, Kirsty, said she’s already thinking of ways to help out next year.

She told the Chronicle: “Our friends Simon and Dawn Barmby Newsome, who also do a lot for the hospice, asked if Myla would hold a stall at their house for a charity fundraising event.

“Myla jumped at the chance and this time she made personalised bracelets with everyone’s names on and also baked Union Jack buns that were sold in the Central Cafe in Royston.

“Her friend Billie Newman also held a stall and crocheted 40 hearts to give to the charity.

“Myla is extremely proud of her achievement and is already planning what she can do to raise even more money next year.”
