A series of consultation events have been arranged across Barnsley so residents can have their say on development plans.

Barnsley Council's Development Sites and Places document set out the proposed use of every piece of land in the borough over the next 15-20 years.

It also identifies which parts of the borough the council wants to use as employment and housing sites. Many of the proposed sites are classed as greenbelt, prompting opposition from many quarters.

At consultation events residents will be able to see information about the document and talk to planning officers. A council spokesman said there would be no presentations about the plans but officers would be able to answer questions about the proposals.

But Royston residents, who attended a session at the library on Station Road on Wednesday, were angered that there was not a presentation.

Some said there was both a lack of information and transparency.
