DAVIS Keillor-Dunn says everything is going well on and off the pitch and he’s hoping to repay the club with loyalty during the upcoming transfer window.
The 28-year-old is the joint top goalscorer in League One this season with eight goals after 14 games.
At the same point last year he’d scored three goals and is on course for his best goalscoring season in his career.
He says he’s always trying to go one better.
He added: “I scored 20 last year – one for Mansfield, one cup goal and 18 league goals.
“I’m always going to strive to be better.
“If I can go on and get 25 this season then I’m always improving.
“It’s the hardest thing in the world (scoring( to do in the game.
“Some players make it look easy but you’ve got defenders trying to stop you every week, a ‘keeper in the net.
“But that’s the pressures of leading the line and being a forward.”
With his goalscoring exploits, there’s no doubt he’ll be of interest to clubs higher up the footballing pyramid.
But he says he wants to get to the Championship with Barnsley and repay the loyalty they’ve shown him.
He added: “If we can get there and the boys get an opportunity to play at that level, I’d like to back myself.
“I know I could score goals at that level.
“Barnsley were the club that were loyal to me and that’s what I want to be to them.
“I’ll give 110 per cent to the fans out there.
“They were the ones that took the plunge and paid the money to get me, I just really want to pay them back as much as I can.”
Keillor-Dunn assisted Reyes Cleary for the first goal in Saturday’s win against Luton before the winger returned the favour for Barnsley’s fifth.
He said that the young winger is an exciting prospect and joked he should have passed him the ball instead of shooting and scoring from his own half against Bradford City.
He added: “I was a little bit fuming because he should have passed it to me.
“I gave him a little bit after the game but I let him off because it went in.
“I’d say it’s one of the best goals I’ve ever witnessed – I’m absolutely delighted for him.
“I think once we both get properly firing as well, it can be a real nuisance for the league.
“He’s one of the best talents I’ve seen.
“He’s the full package for a winger, isn’t he?
“As long as he’s confident and he keeps trying each game, I think he’ll be fine.”
