Barnsley Comedy Club’s Gong Wrong competition was held at the weekend in front of a packed-out crowd.
Comic Marty Riley was overjoyed to win the competition which has gown in popularity in recently months.
Each act is given ten minutes to shine and at the end of each set the audience decides if they get to stay or get gonged off immediately, with the favourite act eventually being crowned the winner.
Marty said: “It was great to win Gong Wrong at Barnsley Comedy Club and what a venue! Perfect for comedy and perfect for those wanting a different kind of evening entertainment.
“Barnsley has a real asset here and long may it continue to thrive.”
But you’ve not missed your chance to take part in the competition as it’s set to return to the town on January 17.

Regular MC Andy Mitchell said: “It was a high energy room with a packed out audience.
“Gong Wrong is a great platform for the best new talent in the north, some of whom have since gone on to appear on television.
“This Saturday we will be taking things up a level at Barnsley Comedy Club with two comedians who have previously been successful on the BBC New Comedian Of The Year - Tom Little and Maxine Wade - as well as Yorkshire comic Ben Turner.
“I am looking forward to a great atmosphere and giving the audience the chance to experience comedy.
“The last few gigs at Barnsley Comedy Club have been amazing.
“The atmosphere is electric - we would love everyone to experience it, even if just once.”
On January’s competition he added: “The standard will be high.
“You could see the next big thing.
“Or you could see a middle-aged man having a breakdown.”
