A WORSBROUGH couple celebrated a sparkling wedding anniversary.
Neville and June Dyson, 79 and 81 respectively, marked their diamond anniversary on Tuesday, with a celebratory meal at Rob Royd Farm.
The couple began their special day by opening a congratulatory card, sent on behalf of King Charles.
Busy with Christmas celebrations, the couple will celebrate their special day with loved ones in the form of a party in the new year.
The pair first laid eyes upon each other when June was just 15 and Neville was 13.
The two lovebirds met after Neville’s brother started a relationship with one of June’s friends and brought her over to the family home.
They married six years later, marking a milestone in what would become a beautiful love story spanning multiple decades.
The ceremony took place at Ardsley Church, with Neville drinking a celebratory pint before the wedding.
Neville said: “It was love at first sight.
“We’ve been together over 60 years and it’s never a day too long.”
Throughout the course of their long and happy marriage the couple have welcomed two children, three grandchildren - and most recently one beloved great-grandchild.
Their favourite pastime is spending quality time with their family.
Neville has enjoyed time alone with his fishing trips and wood turning and June’s preferred hobby is gardening.
The couple used to enjoy holidays abroad together, but have had to stop after a recent operation on Neville’s lung.
Neville added: “The secret to a long and happy marriage is agreeing with each other, mainly me agreeing with her.
“Throughout our marriage, spending time with our family has been our favourite thing to do.”
