MORE than 15,000 hours have been generously given by individuals and groups across the borough to the Barnsley Museums portfolio this year.
Throughout the year, 422 people contributed their time and skills at locations including Cannon Hall, Cooper Gallery, Experience Barnsley, Elsecar Heritage Centre and Worsbrough Mill.
This includes school pupils, college students, work experience placements, corporate teams and dedicated volunteers who join the regular weekly sessions.
Together, they have helped create welcoming spaces, delivered engaging experiences and supported projects.
From planting and conservation to maintaining trails and outdoor exhibits, volunteers have been at the heart of caring for the beautiful outdoor spaces.
Almost half of all volunteering hours this year were dedicated to green spaces, ensuring the museums’ parks, gardens and heritage landscapes remain vibrant, accessible and enjoyable for the whole community.
