Barnsley have made Irish centre-back Eoghan O’Connell their first signing of the transfer window.
The 30-year-old was a free agent after leaving Wrexham last year and has signed until the end of the season.
He began his career at Celtic then had spells at Bury, Rochdale and Charlton before helping Wrexham to three straight promotions. He could only move in a transfer window as he did not leave Wrexham until September.
Head coach Conor Hourihane said: "We’re excited to welcome Eoghan to Oakwell. He brings real leadership, solidity, and football intelligence to our backline. His career speaks volumes—with nearly 300 league appearances and a promotion-winner, he’s exactly the kind of experienced defender we need. Eoghan fits our system and is a fantastic addition on and off the pitch.”
