TWO CYCLISTS from Barnsley are entering their second years as professionals with their current teams and hoping to build on an exciting 2025.

Imogen Wolff, 19, from Silkstone Common, moved on from being a junior World Champion with Great Britain to compete for one of the top female teams in Visma Lease-A-Bike last year.

She competed in the Tour de France as well as several others of the world’s biggest races.

Jenson Young, 24, from Hemingfield, has been competing in the World Gravel Championships – travelling the globe and enjoying a series of wins the end of last year.

Jenson told the Chronicle: “I will be with the same team with a similar programme of races. I want to use the experience from last year and learn from mistakes.

“I can only benefit from all the miles in my legs and the experience I’ve got from last year.

“I can skip races that didn’t suit me and I didn’t enjoy and focus on the ones I think I will do well in.

“Last year there wasn’t really much pressure to do well and I still got good results – a lot better than I expected and the team expected.

“But it would be nice to improve on that and there is a bit more expectation now.

“I am just glad to be sorted for this year. It’s quite a hard sport to stay in, you have to keep getting results.

“I am just going with the flow. Hopefully I have another good season.”

Jenson’s big aims for 2026 at the National Gravel Championships and the Traka 360k race in Spain.

“National champs is a big one. I came fifth in it in 2024, my first gravel race, and fourth in it last year. So it’d be good to podium. Obviously I will try to do better than that if I can but there are some very good riders in it.

“The Traka is Europe’s biggest gravel race. It’s 200 miles so it will be the longest one I’ve ever done.”
