MONK Bretton Park needs friends to help restore it to its past glory, according to a community worker.

Most of the parks in the borough have their own “friends of” groups who look after them but Monk Bretton has none.

Now Fair Share worker Ruth Bullivant-Layton is hoping to form a Friends of Monk Bretton Park group to help clean it up.

She said: “The park has some historic value and it needs looking after. The pond is in desperate need of clearing again and we need to make it nice again for community to enjoy.”

Formation of a group may also give access to funding which could be used to restore the park.
