THE final round is always the hardest - but for one boxing gym the final round will be 24 hours away.
Barnsley Star Amateur Boxing Club - the gym that honed Callum Simpson’s skills - will be hosting a 24-hour ‘boxathon’ next month to raise money for the club.
The roof on the gym is currently leaking, and coach Trevor Schofield is hoping the novel fundraiser will be a good way to help fix it.
It will run from 12pm on Saturday, February 7, until 12pm the following day.
Trevor told the Chronicle: “We’re running a 24-hour boxathon to raise some money for the gym.
“The roof is damaged and leaking so we need to raise some money to help fix it.
“We’ve never done anything like this before.
“We’ve done walks and things like that but never this.
“There’ll be around 30 people taking part and we’ll be sparring and doing pad work.”
