DEARNE Valley have withdrawn from their league for this season but insist it is a pause rather than an ending.

The club, based in Bolton-on-Dearne, won Yorkshire Division Four last season and had targetted reaching Yorkshire Division One within five years.

But they were bottom of the third division having lost eight in a row and had to pull out of some games.

A club statement read: “Declining player availability, injuries and the added challenges presented by the rugby league season commencing in March have made it increasingly difficult to fulfil our fixtures in a way that supports player welfare and the long-term interests of the club.

“Stepping back at this stage allows the squad to recover and provides the club with an opportunity to reset and plan effectively.

“We have worked to provide all clubs and league organisers with as much notice as possible, allowing time to plan alternate fixtures and ensure clarity around league standings.

“As a club, we remain incredibly proud of what has been achieved - two outstanding seasons, back to back promotions with an unbeaten home record from 2023 to 2025 and a growing reputation across South Yorkshire.

“This is not an ending but a pause. Our focus now turns to strengthening, rebuilding and preparing for the next chapter.
