BARNSLEY man John Stones has been linked with a move to the Premier League champions after his England side won the ‘bronze final’ in the World Cup.
The 32-year-old ex-Red from Thurlstone did not play in the 6-4 win over France but has made 94 appearances for England, placing him 12th in the overall rankings.
He is just two appearances behind fellow South Yorkshire man Kyle Walker and six away from becoming just the 11th player in history to play 100 times for England.
He left Manchester City in May after a glorious stint which saw him win seven Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five EFL Cups and a Champions League final.
But this week he has been linked with a move to Premier League champions Arsenal.
Former Barnsley loan striker Ivan Toney made his first appearance of the tournament in injury-time against Argentina and started against France in the third-place match.
