A KARATE champion and a community sports leader have been chosen to be the faces of a healthy living campaign in Barnsley.
Chris Tully, 21, and 17-year-old Kim Waterhouse will appear on billboard and poster adverts across the borough as part of the Everyday Sport scheme.
Barnsley is one of four pilot campaigns across the UK run by Sport England, which launched a search to find an everyday sport hero who is physically active and inspires other people to a healthier lifestyle.
Both Chris, an aspiring PE teacher from Aldbury Close in Athersley, and Kim, a former champion gymnast from Chapel Road in Tankersley, both made the grade - so were both chosen.
Chris is a Karate black belt who competes at international level and is a former British champion. He said: “I used to be quite shy and didn’t have much confidence. Karate has not only kept me very fit but has really taken me out of my shell.
“I’m thrilled to be chosen as an everyday sport hero so I can help encourage other people to get active in a way that makes them happy.”
Kim volunteers at her local gym club to help children be more active and teaches youngsters basketball.
