BARNSLEY Women’s FC conceded a last-gasp equaliser in their final home game of the season as they drew 1-1 with Notts County.
Ruby Ormiston had scored early for the Reds.
They are almost certain to finish fourth in National League Division One Midlands unless Sheffield FC win all their remaining games and overturn a 16-goal deficit in goal difference.
Barnsley have 39 points from 21 games, and one to play against Northampton Town on April 26.
Manager Craige Richardson said: “I think that games typifies our season.
“We had a couple of players out but I was really pleased with the first half.
“We applied ourselves really well and we were patient.
“We scored and hit the crossbar twice and really dominated. We lost a couple of important players due to injury.
“We lost our aerial threat and they scored from a corner.
“The only thing they had in their locker were set pieces.
“But we can see some of the work we’re doing in training coming off and fans are saying we’re playing good football. The season is pretty much dead so it’s about getting ready for next season.
“It always hurts to concede, and we have a bit to learn about game management, but there are loads of positives to take.”
