DODWORTH Miners rugby league team have made a flying start to life in the Yorkshire Premier Division with two wins from two.

They were promoted from Division Two last season but have been moved up two divisions to the top flight due to a restructuring of the leagues.

Dodworth won 34-30 at Brighouse Rangers so are second on points difference.

They were 22-10 up at half-time thanks to a hat-trick by Joe Ashworth plus tries from Joe Perry and Clarke Dixon.

The hosts came back to lead 30-22 with five minutes left but tries by Kieran Hyde and Harry Harvey, with the last play of the game, won it for Dodworth.

Perry converted three tries for Dodworth.

Meanwhile, Dearne Valley Bulldogs lost 34-26 at home to West Hull in Yorkshire Division Two.

They are now due to host Eastmoor Dragons on Saturday.

Rycroft Hammers lost 64-22 at Milford in Division Six.

Jamie Blakeston scored two tries with Lieuk Womack and Harvey Coates also touching down. They are now due to host Moorends Thorne Marauders.
