THE hard work of pubgoers in Royston who were throwing darts for almost 12 hours have seen their perseverance pay off after more than £1,400 was raised for Barnsley Hospice.

A charity darts marathon was held at the Pack Horse Inn in Royston earlier this month with the aim of hitting 200,000 points.

Organised by Lee Potter, it was an even harder challenge than he’d expected.

The cowboys and Indians theme went down a blast and although the dozen or so locals who got involved may not be quite on Luke Littler’s level, they still managed to reach the 200,000 point mark.

Lee told the Chronicle: “It was a very long day - much linger than we expected it to be.

“It took 11 hours and 20 minutes to complete in the end.

“But it was really good, the locals really enjoyed it and everyone got involved.

“The people that were throwing the darts stuck until the very end as well which was great.
