SPACE for up to 500 new grave plots at Wath Cemetery have been developed.
The cemetery, which opened in 1868, is home to 20 Commonwealth War graves, reflecting its connection to national history and honouring those who served.
As part of an ongoing commitment for locals, plans have now been ‘carefully’ developed to introduce up to 500 new grave plot spaces.
A spokesperson for the Crematorium and Memorial Group said: “This expansion comes at a time when burial space is becoming increasingly limited in many areas across the country and will help ensure availability for future generations.
“The development offers several important benefits, including the opportunity for families and individuals to be reunited with loved ones already laid to rest within the cemetery. It will also provide the option to pre-purchase plots, providing reassurance and allowing individuals to plan ahead.
“In addition, the expansion has been thoughtfully designed to include accessible pathways, making it easier for visitors to spend time remembering and reflecting.
“This investment ensures that Wath Cemetery will remain an accessible and meaningful place of remembrance, continuing to serve the community now and into the future.”
