CAWTHORNE singer Kate Rusby has put her name on her very own lioness as part of a South Yorkshire-wide art trail for charity.
In total, there will be 150 lions on display across the county this summer to celebrate 150 years of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
This trail aims to raise £2.8m for the hospital’s charity and Barnsley artists Josephine Dellow and Rune Dali Burke have worked alongside huge names such as Pete McKee for the Pride of Yorkshire art trail.
In Barnsley, the lion pride will span historic and cultural landmarks including Elsecar Heritage Centre and Monk Bretton Priory, as well as destinations such as the Glass Works, Barnsley Town Hall and Oakwell Stadium.
The trail will also extend across the borough, from RSPB Old Moor and Elsecar Park to town centres in Penistone, Wombwell and Hoyland.
Kate was at Elsecar Park on Monday ahead of the official launch at the start of next month.
She said: “What a gorgeous project and what an absolute honour to be part of it. Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a shining light-house full of heroes, we are so very lucky to have such an incredible institution in our area.
“I can’t wait to see the rest of the “pride”.
“The artist Matt Sewell has done such a great job of my lioness, Underneath The Stars, after one of my albums, I love it.”
