THE WINSTANLEY Cup was lifted for the first time in 87 years as the girls of Wath C of E beat Fitzwilliam.
The trophy was donated by William Winstanley in 1905, landlord of the New Inn at Wath, to raise funds for the old people in the area. The last winners were Wath National Old Boys in 1937 – the alumni of the school that is now Wath C of E. It was then converted to a dominoes competition for two years before folding.
Last year, Amy Furniss, a teacher at Brampton Ellis school, found the Winstanley Cup and retired silversmith Bob Lamb renovated it.
The trophy was presented by the Winstanley family.
