Barnsley Woolley Miners chased 220 for a two-wicket home win over Oughtibridge off the final ball in the SYL Championship.
Ali Zaryab continued his superb form with 107 including nine fours and three sixes but was out in the 48th over then Barnsley’s tailenders saw them home. The Shaw Laners needed three to win from the final ball and Harvey Round hit it for six. Zarmash Tarakhil had taken three wickets.
They remain second, ten points clear in the two promotion places and four behind leaders Ackworth.
Barnsley also won both their Twenty20 Plate games so topped their group on home soil.
They chased 142 for a five-wicket win over Oughtibridge. Round took three for ten then William Chapman scored 50.
They chased 140 to beat Coal Aston with four balls and five wickets left. Round took four wickets then Zaryab carried his bat with 93 not out off 60 balls.
Zaryab now has 830 runs for Barnsley in 11 innings, averaging 118 with five half-centuries and three hundreds.
Elsecar’s 189 was not enough in a four-wicket home loss to Upper Haugh.
Peter Hadfield made 53 not out.
They finished second in their Plate group.
They chased 160 to beat Frickley by five wickets. But they lost by two wickets to Sheffield Collegiate after posting 159 with Arsalan Mir taking 82.
Rockingham are still looking for their first league win after a four-wicket loss at Tickhill.
Andy Baker made 50 in Rock’s 224 then William Dooling took three wickets.
They had more success in the Plate, chasing 124 for a nine-wicket win over Division One Wath with Baker carrying his bat on 55 not out.
They finished second because they fell 26 runs short chasing Ackworth’s 169. Lasith Lakshan made 77 off 43 balls.
