BARNSLEY AC’s Vicky Shaw set a PB of 39-26 at the Great Grimsby 10k and was third over40 woman so qualified for her first English vest.

Chris McNicholas recorded a season’s best of 38-46 and Mark Wood finished in 39-12.

Penistone Footpath Runner Rachael Mayston finished in 42-26. She placed 362nd overall, 46th female and eighth in the women’s over50 category.

Penistone’s Damian Kilpin and Steve Sanders travelled to North Yorkshire for the Whorlton Run.

Kilpin was tenth overall and second in the men’s over45 category with 51-08.

Sanders was 27th overall in 56-21 and narrowly missed out on an age-category prize with fourth place in the men’s over50 category.

Penistone’s James Pierce tackled the demanding Duddon Valley Fell Race in the Lake District, finishing 56th overall and completing the classic long fell race in 4-23-46.

Penistone’s Martyn Goodwin completed the tough Pen-y-ghent Fell Race in the Yorkshire Dales, finishing 142nd in 1-33 on a hard course with tough conditions near the summit.

Barnsley AC’s Ashley Abrahams and Wayne Singleton took on the Swansea Half Marathon.

Ashley set a PB of 1-13-14 to claim second over45 while Wayne was sixth in that category with 1-14-31.

At the Kimmy Kanter, Barnsley AC’s Chris McNicholas was first over60 and ninth overall in a PB of 26-30 while Faye Lund finished in 35-21 and Dave Allenby in 41-19. Allemby was first over70 man at the Loxley Lash.

There were 21 Barnsley Harriers at the Kanter. David Hanks came fourth overall and was first over40 man.

It was a family affair for the Pickersgills at Ilkley 10k with Lesley finishing as second over60 in 52-44 and Shaun in 43-54.

Adrian Bywater was first back for Barnsley Harriers, gaining another PB for the distance and finishing in under 45 minutes as fourth over55.

Lee Pepper did his first 10k in club colours and James Morgan recorded a sub-50 for the second time.

Vikki Skipper was the first female Harrier to finish.

Barnsley AC’s Taylor Hughes competed at Podium 5k in York, finishing in a time of 17-21.

Barnsley AC’s Gail Colville was fifth woman in 41-57 at the Carreras Populares Sorba in Spain.

The latest race took place in the Oxspring Trunce series. Penistone’s Hannah Shaw won the women’s category in 33-50. Richard Cottam was second overall in 25-59, taking first place in the veteran men’s category and recording a personal best.

Ashley Firth came 14th in 30-06 with another personal best, while Philip Shaw won the men’s over60 category in 32-12, also recording a personal best.

Josie Smith added another category win by finishing as first veteran woman in 34-00 and Chloe Hinchliffe also impressed with a personal best of 36-16.

Barnsley AC’s Lesley Pickersgill finished in 45-26.

Harrison Fordham was the first Barnsley Harrier back in 30-04.

There was a PB for Stephen Burnley and Kelly Ford was the first female Harrier.

At the Marsden 10, Penistone’s Nichola McNally was third female overall on the challenging Pennine course.

Jill Scrivens was fourth in the women’s over50 category.

A large Penistone group took part in the club’s Bamford Bimble social fell run.

Runners tackled around 14 to 15 miles across the tops in wet and testing conditions, taking in the likes of Margery Hill, Back Tor, Dovestone Tor and White Tor.

The group included Robin Clough, Shaun Swallow, Steve Sanders, Josie Smith, Daniel Limb, Alex Crosby, Jade Crosby, Fay Nicholls, Martin Ball, Daniel Rushforth and Alex Best.

Barnsley Harriers Ian Meade, Emma Dooley-Wright and Jerry Fisher were amongst the 100 people taking part in the Hospice Hike, walking more than 20 miles and raising more than £2,000 for the Barnsley Hospice.
