Arthur Scargill isn't someone usually associated with the fashion world but this week he was named as the inspiration for a new clothing collection at Burton.

But a spokesman for the menswear retailer confirmed its 14-piece 'Montague' collection, featuring donkey jackets and clothes made from the type of spun fabrics originally made in Yorkshire mills, wasn't based on clothing worn by the former miners' leader.

She said online magazine Shortlist which had named Mr Scargill as the inspiration was 'tongue-in-cheek' but confirmed the collection had drawn on attire worn by miners during the 1984 strike.

It was designed by Royal College Of Art student Liam Hodges who said he was inspired after watching a documentary about the strike.
