Matilda Bissell was so impressed with how the Queen looked during the royal jubilee celebrations she decided to let Her Majesty know of her admiration.
So the seven-year-old sat down to draw a picture of The Queen and penned an accompanying letter telling the Sovereign that she had looked "lovely" on all her royal engagements.
She then addressed her picture and letter to Buckingham Palace, London and posted it off, thinking that would be the end of the matter.
But to Matilda's surprise and delight- she has had a reply and is so proud of her letter from The Queen that she has taken it to St John the Baptist School in Dodworth to show all her classmates.
Her mum, Jo said: "We were all astonished when the envelope arrived with the Buckingham Palace crest on it.
"To be honest we never ever expected a reply so when it arrived I took it to school and she opened it in the playground then went running off to show her headmaster.
"No-one told her to write the letter, she just took it upon herself to let the Queen know that she thought she looked nice."
Matilda said: "I did ask my mum if it really was from the real Queen and she said yes.
"She did look lovely whenever I saw her on the television so I wrote to tell her that she had looked so nice.
"I have shown my letter to lots of people and now I'm going to save it and keep it somewhere special."
Matilda, from Upper Folderings, Dodworth, is so happy she has forgiven the Queen for not granting the request she had included in her letter.
Thinking that perhaps with all the Crown Jewels at her disposal the Queen might have one spare, Matilda enquired if it might possible give her one of her crowns.
No royal jewels were included in the reply - but Matilda was sent a brochure about the Crown Jewels.
