Clayton Taylor has been in Barnsley this week and looks highly likely to be announced as a Reds player in the near future.
The Australian winger, 22, has been a target for Oakwell club and was shown in a team picture published on social media by head coach Daniel Stendel. The deal is expected to confirmed soon.
Taylor, who has played for the Socceroos at under 23 level, is a free agent after leaving A-League club Newcastle Jets for whom he has scored 23 goals across the last three seasons.
He would be the second first team signing of the season after Cameron McGeehan returned to the club.
