GABRIELLE Idle-Beavers completed a successful trip to the European Junior Swimming Championships and will now compete in the Commonwealth Games next week.

The 18-year-old from Darton had won bronze in the 50m breaststroke in Munich, Germany last week and reached two further finals.

She finished seventh in the 100m breaststroke final and was part of the Great Britain women’s medley relay team who finished fourth.

Gabrielle will now focus on the Commonwealth Games in which she is due to swim for England.

The event in Glasgow is due to start on Thursday with Gabrielle’s first races the following weekend.

Gabrielle said: “It was an amazing opportunity to represent my country and a definitive learning curve for the international stage.

“I’m so excited to see what will happen in Glasgow.”
