A SCHOOLGIRL who ran through flames to escape from a blazing house and who later had three skin grafts is to receive a bravery award.
Tamika Wyatt, eight, spent eight weeks in hospital and couldn't wait to get back to school.
Her courage and determination to get back into the classroom led headteacher at Milefield Primary in Grimethorpe to put her name forward for the award.
On Thursday she will attend a special Learning Achievement Awards ceremony at the Metrodome where she will pick up her prize.
In May fire ripped through the home of Tamika’s family on Manor Crescent.
She spent eight weeks at the Northern General Hospital with burns to both arms and legs.
She had to have three skin grafts on the left hand side of her body and has permanent scarring to her left arm and leg.
