Barnsley manager David Flitcroft is 'bamboozled' after the Football League let the Reds be scheduled to make the long trips to Bournemouth, Brighton and Reading on Tuesday nights.
The distance to and from the three games is more than 1,000 miles in total and the fact that they are all midweek fixtures means that the Reds will have to spend an extra night in a hotel and most fans will have to take an extra day off work to attend.
Flitcroft said: "I know the fixtures are drawn at random but why can't they change them a little bit to make it easier for the clubs and fans? "Why can't Bournemouth and Brighton play each other on a Tuesday night?
"Not only do we have to make those three trips, but the Reading one is followed by Yeovil away on the Saturday. The people who plan the fixtures have a duty of care to the players to not make them do too much travelling which could cause injury and disrupt preparation for the next game.
"When we had to travel to Crystal Palace then Cardiff, we were badly fatigued and lost 6-0 to Charlton. We will have to spend two days in a hotel and it will cost us extra money.
"They should also think about the fans who will have to take a day off work to attend those games. If they had been on a Saturday then the fans could have a right weekend on the coast."
Barnsley's first game of the season will be at home to FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic who have just been relegated from the Premier League. Flitcroft said: "It's a great game to have. We won't be scared of them. We will have a right go at them. I will treat the match the same as the home games against Watford, Hull and Brighton last season which we won."
