TWO Thurnscoe women fear their popular clubs for children will stop running.
Norma Barnett and Carol Rich have appealed for sponsorship to keep the clubs going after a source of cash ceased.
The women received money from Sports Performance Arts and Crafts Education when they took over the running of the holiday activity clubs in February.
The pair, who have spent a total of 32 years as non-teaching support workers at The Hill Primary, have appealed for help for the sake of the children.
“The children produced some wonderful work over three days last week for a Hallowe'en themed project,” said Carol.
“It would be a shame if the clubs stopped running as the children develop lots of new skills and get lots of enjoyment from them. We’d be grateful to anyone who could fund this worthwhile work.”
Since February half term, the activities have included baking, pottery, sewing, card making, painting and puppet making.
“We used to come in and supervise voluntarily, then suggested that we could run it as well and have been very successful. When we took over they were getting only five or six children, but now we’re always full with at least 20 and have a reserve list. They’re open to children from other schools, but we manage to fill them with children from The Hill."
