Goalkeeper Mike Pollitt, 41, has replaced Luke Steele in the Barnsley net for the Capital One game against Southampton after signing a 28-day loan earlier in the day.
Pollitt has come in from Wigan where he has been a back-up stopper, making 36 league appearances in eight seasons.
He previously played for Rotherham United and was alongside Barnsley boss David Flitcroft for Lincoln in 1992.
Captain Steele has been dropped to the bench after a below average performance in the 5-2 loss at Blackburn on Saturday. Stephen Dawson has taken over as skipper. Ben Alnwick is not in the squad but is not thought to be injured.
