Two tipsy thieves, one of whom had been drinking for days, abandoned a trip to return a saw to B and Q and turned to crime.
Arminas Stepanovas, 22, who later said he had been boozing for three days and could remember little, and Tadas Oniunas, 30, broke into a car repair company compound, Barnsley Magistrates' Court was told.
They stole two catalytic converters, a television and damaged a fence at the yard at U K Assistance and Accident Repairs in Wombwell, said Julian Brook, defending.
Mr Brook said the pair had got a taxi to B and Q but never made it because they were so drunk.
He said they started walking home to Claycliffe Terrace, Goldthorpe.
He said: "Mr Stepanovas had been drinking for three days. He and his co-accused were very drunk."
Julie Grant, prosecuting, said the men were going to sell the catalytic converters for scrap.
She added: "Mr Stepanovas told police after his arrest he had been drinking for three days and could not remember what he had done."
Stepanovas and Oniunas admitted two thefts and criminal damage. They will be sentenced on October 7 and were granted unconditional bail.
