Chris O'Grady's late strike earned Barnsley a 1-1 draw at home to Reading on Tuesday night which kept them bottom of the Championship but meant they ended a run of four straight losses.
O'Grady fired in after good work by Scott Wiseman on 78 minutes to earn a deserved point for the struggling Reds, their fifth of the season from ten games.
Hal Robson-Kanu had earlier fired the visitors ahead on 50 minutes with a wonderful 25-yard strike. Adam Le Fondre could have had two goals but was denied both times but Jack Butland who dropped a routine corner as Sean Morrison hit the bar.
While Reading had the better chances, Barnsley played the better football with Paddy McCourt impressing. The fleet-footed Irishman was fouled countless times much to the frustration of the home manager David Flitcroft.
The Reds played a far less defensive formation than in the loss at Leicester with Jason Scotland coming back in to partner Chris O'Grady. They began with the impressive Jacob Mellis and McCourt on the wings but changed in the second half to put McCourt behind the strikers.
