A man on a mission to encourage more people to get fit has been shortlisted for an award.
Darren Padgett, founder of Team Activ, is in the running for an award from the Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber. He’s shortlisted for social entrepreneur of the year.
Founded in 2011 by former PE teacher Darren, Team Activ now works with businesses, schools and communities. It runs corporate events and open access events such as rounders leagues and tournaments.
And Team Activ works with every secondary school in Barnsley and more than half of all primary schools in the borough to deliver extra-curricular sport.
Darren said: “We work with all ages, from infant children to adults, to encourage people to get fit and stay fit so it’s really great to be shortlisted for an award which recognises this.
“As a social enterprise, we are a not-for-profit organisation which re-invests any profits back into making a difference in the community.”
