Winners of the Proud of Barnsley Awards 2013 will be revealed tonight at a spectacular ceremony.
Every ticket has been snapped up for the event at the Holiday Inn, Dodworth, and the glamorous evening will see almost 300 guests attending from Barnsley's great and good. They include MPs, local dignitaries and well-known faces from sport and the community.
Barnsley born DJ Simon Hirst - of Hirsty's Daily Dose on Capital Yorkshire - will host the evening with his on-air colleague Jo Jo Kelly.
Just 14 winners will be called to the stage from a shortlist of 42. They have been nominated in categories from Carer of the Year to Sports Team and School, with other sections for volunteers, young entrepreneurs and community groups.
The audience will see their amazing stories via videos during the evening.
Barnsley Chronicle editor Andrew Harrod said: "Our search for Barnsley's unsung heroes has been ongoing for several months - and we have heard some incredibly moving stories of heroism, care and courage. It made the judging process extremely difficult.
"The awards remind us that people in our town are doing so many great things, often in difficult circumstances. We should be very proud of that."
