Bride-to-be Katy Underwood will marry in a bespoke, vintage-inspired wedding dress which has been handmade by her mother.
Katy, 31, likes things that are one of a kind and asked her mum Pat Thompson to design the part knitted, part crocheted ivory dress in January.
"It's beautiful, really delicate and intricate. It's finished now and I've tried it on and it looks lovely and how I imagined it," said Katy.
"I've always been interested in crafting and vintage things and I decided when I got engaged that I would like my mum to make a crafted wedding dress."
It has been made using a vintage pattern from the 1930s. It is full length, with long sleeves and Katy will team it with a cathedral veil when she marries fiancé Steven Symon, 36, on Thursday at the Town Hall.
He knows Pat has made the dress, but won't see it until the wedding day - which also happens to be his birthday.
The couple, of Grace Street, have been together for ten years and Steve proposed at Elsecar Antiques Centre, where Katy also picked her engagement ring.
Other aspects of the couple's wedding have also been crafted by Katy's sister Louise Kelly, who has made table decorations, buttonholes and even the bridesmaid's hair fascinators.
The colour theme is purple which is Katy's favourite colour, and red, to tie in with the colours of Barnsley Football Club where the reception is being held.
Katy added: "I'm a bit nervous but I'm really looking forward to it."
Her mother Pat, 60, has only ever knitted as a hobby, and said she panicked when Katy first asked her to make the dress.
But she added: "I like a challenge and once I started I couldn't stop and surprisingly, I finished it within six months.
"The pattern had to be adapted because the yarn was discontinued in 1929, but I felt very proud after finishing it. It's a great achievement and I can't wait to see it on the day."
