A LAB technician who needed 30 stitches after a police dog savaged her claims she was innocently caught up in a street fracas.
Lyndsay Rodgers, 22, has sought legal advice after the Alsatian was allowed to attack with such ferocity her arm was scarred for life. She requires plastic surgery.
Miss Rodgers, of Elm Street, Hoyland Common, was with boyfriend James Cowlishaw at his cousin's Guest Street house when trouble flared in the road. It was 2am on New Year's Day. A neighbour Nathan Taylor, 18, had allegedly been bundled to the ground after being arrested for drunkenness by officers believed to have been attending a separate call. A crowd, including Mr Taylor's parents, gathered and were aggressively complaining about his treatment.
Mr Cowlishaw claims he went out and was arrested after jeering officers. Police say Miss Rodgers tried to intervene and was bitten by the dog.
But witnesses from the six or seven strong crowd deny this. They say Miss Rodgers only came out the house after Mr Cowlishaw had been led away.
