MOURNERS filled St Mary’s Church, Wombwell, as they paid their respects to a 15-year-old boy who died in an arson attack.

Adam Stringer was killed in a blaze at his home in Kitchin Road on November 3.

Flowers alongside Adam’s coffin spelled out “We love U” and “son”, as the cortege moved from his house to the church last Friday.

It was the first time that Adam’s mum, Karen, had returned to the site of last year’s tragedy.

Many of Adam’s school friends attended the funeral, along with neighbours, police and fire-fighters, and a crowd of grief stricken youngsters gathered outside the church as the procession arrived.

Rev Andrew Mauchan, the Rector, who flanked by large wreaths of white lilies, read tributes by Adam’s parents, his auntie and one of his friends.
